Approved Field Equipment for Seafood Extraction
The blade goes in. The guts come out. This has not changed since the founding of the Concern in 1999. What has changed is everything else.
Following extensive field testing and operational analysis conducted across seventeen coastal zones and three inland water facilities, the Asset Handling Division has published the updated approved equipment list for seafood extraction activities. This bulletin supersedes all previous advisories issued prior to Q2 2026. Compliance is not optional. Neither is reading this.
Scope of Review
The review was initiated after inspectors identified unauthorized implements in active use at four regional facilities. We will not name the facilities. They know who they are. The Asset Handling Division does not forget.
All personnel engaged in maritime protein acquisition must review and comply with these updated standards immediately.
Approved Implements
The following categories of equipment have been validated for field use. These are not suggestions. They are the result of seventeen months of testing, debate, and in one case, arbitration.
- Oyster Knives: Stainless steel blade length not to exceed 3.5 inches. Safety guard required. The blade goes in. The guard stays on.
- Fish Spatulas: Offset design only. Flexible blade required for precision extraction operations. Rigid spatulas remain on the deprecated list and will not be reinstated.
- Marine-Grade Thermometers: Digital instant-read devices only. Analog thermometers are no longer authorized following the Q3 2025 thermometer incident, which this bulletin will not relitigate.
- Extraction Nets: Mesh size must comply with local harvest regulations. Synthetic fiber construction required. Natural fiber nets may feel artisanal. They are not compliant.
Compliance Requirements
All equipment must be registered with the Asset Handling Division prior to deployment. Registration takes approximately four minutes. Operational suspension takes considerably longer to resolve.
Failure to maintain proper documentation may result in mandatory retraining, which is a full-day event scheduled on Tuesdays. There are no exceptions. Not even the one you are already thinking of.
For procurement inquiries, consult the Equipment section of this website or contact your regional compliance officer, who has been briefed on the new standards and is expecting your call.
